Spaces we like to work with

At Pocketspace Interiors, we have a passion for all types of spaces. We specialise in office fitouts, industrial architecture, workplace design, hospitality design, retail experiences, and luxury residential interior design, with a focus on villas and new builds. Additionally, we are the trusted Interior Designers for Southern Cross Hospitals, creating specialised designs for care facilities and medical spaces, as well as optimising space in every project we undertake.

But, as much as the space has to be a right fit, people is the most important thing. We love connecting with our clients to create legacy relationships to design more than one space with you!

The Process

Design Consultation: We begin with an on-site or zoom meeting to learn about your needs, wants and to assess your space and take measurements if required. From the consultation we will create a package specific to your project which consists of a site report, a look-sheet and a quote for our proposed design fees. The quote outlines the hours and procedures estimated to complete your project. We will then work with you to make adjustments that match your requirements, priorities and budgets.

Design Concepts: Once you have accepted our quote, we then begin working on your concept designs, plans and renders. We work through each process outlined in the fee proposal, communicating with you at every stage until the final design concept gets your seal of approval.

Ordering: This stage of the project sees us collate a full product/finishes schedule so you can see a breakdown of where your funds are being allocated. We remove frustration by ordering all of the necessary items and products from our range of trusted suppliers to make the process as seamless as possible.

Management: We manage all deliveries and installations to ensure the fastest, most effective turn-around that is stress free and works with your time schedule.

Completion: Upon completion of your project, we remain in contact to answer your questions and assist you with any further requirements and providing costings if necessary. We have a zero-defects policy and ensure work is completed to your satisfaction.

Sustainability

Pocketspace is committed to bringing environmental design conversations to the highest priority in every consultation. It is important to us that we take the lead in environmental responsibility as designers and specifiers.

Our role to decarbonise interior designers starts with selecting one product over another, and we need your help to support our journey in pursuant of New Zealand made product, locally sourced parts and environmentally accredited products with Life Cycle Assessments (LCA)’s done if possible.

We can radically reduce our homes and office internally to make them more energy efficient with the new H1 Ventilation guidelines, enjoy the health and wellbeing benefits while achieving a Whole-of-life embodied carbon reduction; from energy through to carpet and tapware selection.

How we practise what we preach

42%

OUR GOAL

of every project to be specified with sustainable products.

Prioritise Reuse and Retention

Instead of discarding existing elements, we first will consider retaining and reusing components like partitions, ceilings, and flooring. This approach reduces embodied carbon and waste.

2. Implement Modular and Offsite Construction

Adopt modular design principles to facilitate future adaptability and minimise waste. Modular components can be disassembled and repurposed in future fit-outs, reducing the need for demolition and new materials.

3. Select Low-Carbon Materials

We choose materials with low embodied carbon, such as recycled metals, bio-based materials like autoclaved concrete, and sustainable timber. Opting for materials like cardboard and fabric ductwork can also reduce embodied carbon compared to traditional plastics and metals.

4. Engage with Landlords Early

We love to collaborate with landlords to align on sustainability goals. This often helps secure sustainability funding from banks at a discounted rate for any asset upgrades.

5. Utilise Smart Energy Management

Incorporate smart energy systems that monitor and adjust lighting, heating, and cooling based on occupancy. This approach optimises energy use and contributes to achieving net-zero operational emissions. You will never achieve a carbon zero fitout utilising exisiting mechanical equipment so it’s about increasing efficiency in the retrofitting elsewhere.

6. Measure and Set Targets

Utilise tools from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) to measure energy use and set decarbonisation targets. This data-driven approach helps identify opportunities for energy reduction and for us to track progress.

7. Source Sustainable Furniture

We partner with suppliers who offer sustainable and certified furniture. For instance, sourced furniture with stewardship programs, ensuring items could be reused or recycled at the end of their life.

By integrating these strategies, we can significantly reduce the carbon footprint of office fit-outs in New Zealand, aligning with global sustainability goals and setting a benchmark for the industry.
