This private residence nestled in the rolling hills and endless rural views of Taupaki is a rustic retreat far from the hustle and bustle of city living. Everything about this home needed to be cosy, warm and inviting to friends and family. With the lifestyle orchard lapping in front and surrounding farms to look at, the house was designed to be an extension of the land.

Built and designed by Platinum Homes, we designed within the confinements of the set house package. The house features beautiful long run steel roof, natural stone and an entertaining space to dream of.

The interior scheme was based around the style ‘modern rustic’; a blend of country and natural tones meeting modern comforts. The palette was selected to encompass the tones of the environment around it. Dusty greys, cooler browns, jute, rusty metals and country whites.

The Kitchen by Heirloom Kitchens features tongue and groove detailing on the island, a stunning rippled tiled splashback, rustic iron handles, and a custom designed scullery with an additional sink for entertaining. By hanging three rustic metal pendants over the kitchen island, we have created a real sense of scale and balance matching the grand height of the 2700 ceilings.

The bathrooms all feature a wood look ceramic tile, with the master shower being tiled floor to ceiling which creates a luxurious feeling contrasting the white fittings in the rest of the en suite.

The fireplace is the main feature of the main living area, with a beautiful brown schist wall commanding attention in the middle of the space. Balanced by the outdoor schist pillars, the interior really does feel like a cosy rustic sanctuary.

Pocketspace was involved in the layout, interior finish selection, lighting, and kitchen design.
